Created

This fall I heard a man speak about the reason God created us. This man said that God created us because he needed us, that God created humans because he was lonely.

I had never heard something so wrong and so flawed come out of a speakers mouth. This was a man that has some sort of authority among his community. I was and am still shocked at this statement.

God needs us? God is lonely? That is beyond false.
God wants us sure, but needs, God doesn't need anything.

He created us for relationships but I think he created us with full intent that our relationships will fail. He created these failing human relationships so that we will fall flat on our faces and cry out to him.

God is not lonely.
God does not need us.

He wants us and loves us, but he wants us to figure out our need for him.

We are lonely.
We need God.

We are created for union, with other people and with God, but people fail.
We were created for union with our creator.

Our relationships will come and go but God is and always will be.
I believe in people but I know that only God will not let me down.
